The Dominican Friars of the Saint Catherine of Siena Community provide a religious outreach to the four hospitals in our immediate vicinity: Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center, New York Presbyterian-Weill Cornel Medical Center, the Rockefeller University Hospital, and the Hospital for Special Surgery. In our ministry, we have the able assistance of the more than one hundred Extraordinary Ministers of the Eucharist, whom we have prepared for their outreach. In our work as Catholic Chaplains to these hospitals, the Dominican Friars provide the sacraments of Reconciliation, the Anointing of the Sick as well as the Eucharist.
In addition, the Dominican Friars provide a pastoral outreach to physicians, nurses, clergy, and healthcare professionals: women and men religious, support staff as well as patients and their families. Also, we provide educational opportunities for administrators, physicians, allied health care professionals, nurses, seminarians, and parishioners, emphasizing Catholic health care ethics and Catholic moral theology in health care.
